How to mirror a Galaxy phone screen on The Freestyle
To display your Samsung Galaxy phone screen on The Freestyle Projector, use Smart View, Tap View, or AirPlay. These features allow seamless screen mirroring for presentations, entertainment, or music playback. Compatibility depends on your device model and region.
1. How to Use Smart View to Mirror Your Phone Screen
Smart View lets you wirelessly mirror your Samsung Galaxy phone screen to The Freestyle Projector. Follow these steps:
- Ensure both your Samsung Galaxy phone and The Freestyle Projector are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Quick Panel on your phone by swiping down from the top of the screen.
- Tap Smart View and select your The Freestyle Projector from the list.
- Once connected, your phone screen will appear on the projector.
- You can adjust settings like aspect ratio directly from the Smart View menu on your phone.
- To disconnect, press the Back button on the projector remote or disconnect your phone from the Smart View menu.
2. How to Use Tap View for Instant Screen Sharing
Tap View allows you to mirror your phone screen by simply tapping your device on The Freestyle Projector. Here's how:
- Enable Tap View on your Samsung Galaxy phone via the SmartThings app (see Enabling Tap View below).
- Turn on your phone screen and lightly tap it on any external edge of the projector.
- The projector will switch to either the Music Wall screen (if a music app is running) or your phone's screen.
- Tap View works by detecting vibrations when your phone touches the projector. Ensure your phone case is on for better detection.
- This feature is only available on Samsung Galaxy devices running Android 8.1 or higher.
3. Enabling Tap View in the SmartThings App
To activate Tap View, follow these steps:
- Open the SmartThings app on your Samsung Galaxy phone.
- Go to Settings and enable Tap View.
- When connecting for the first time, select Allow on the projector's pop-up window.
- If the projector doesn't appear in the SmartThings app, ensure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
4. Using AirPlay for iPhone or iPad Users
iPhone and iPad users can use AirPlay to mirror their screens to The Freestyle Projector:
- Ensure your iOS device and projector are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Center.
- Tap Screen Mirroring and select your The Freestyle Projector.
- AirPlay support depends on your projector model and region.
5. Additional Things to Check
